||
|
Laser vision correction is a technique for
treating refractive errors like shortsightedness (myopia), longsightedness (hyperopia)
and astigmatism. During LASIK, the excimer laser creates a
spherical surface to eliminate the astigmatic error.
An excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea. The precision and predictability of the laser is well known-excimer lasers are widely used in industrial etching and manufacturing of microelectronic components. Laser vision correction is a permanent solution to your visual needs until the onset of presbyopia in your 40s. After that, some form of correction for reading will be necessary whether or not you have had laser vision correction. There are 2 main forms of laser vision correction available today: LASIK (laser assisted in situ keratomileusis) and PRK (photorefractive keratectomy). |
